POSITION SUMMARY:

Sets-up and maintains voting machines for all elections.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares voting machines for use in elections.

  • Delivers machines to locations requesting the use of voting machines.

  • Post notices in those districts where there are polling place changes.

  • Sets up voting machines to conform to the ballot in assigned voting districts.

  • On Election Day is responsible for voting machine problems in his/her assigned area (works an average of 15 hours).

  • Inspects machines when they are returned from polling places and records repairs needed.

  • Maintains voting machines.

  • When not in use, stores machines in warehouse.

  • Maintains warehouse in clean and orderly fashion.

  • Informs supervisor of machines that need repairs.

  • Obeys all safety rules and regulations.

  • May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job.  More detailed instructions as to the nature of their duties will be given to employees at the beginning of work.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions; and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. 

  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Board of Elections as needed on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must possess basic mechanical ability.

  • Must possess computer skills.

  • Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time and work in extreme heat.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Must have car available to travel to different warehouses and polling places when required.

  • Past experience servicing voting machines preferred.
