Support Generalist




Domestic Relations








Part-time or per diem position 20 hours per week.  Primary duty is the ongoing filing of numerous documents in the working and original files.  Scanning of working and original files. Performs general clerical duties that may include, but are not limited to: data entry/retrieval; typing; scheduling; reception desk; mail processing; court check-in. Duties include contact with the public. May also initially review PACSES (Pennsylvania Child Support Enforcement System) enforcement and/or locate electronic mail alerts on support cases as assigned.


  • Takes initial prescribed action on PACSES generated worker alerts in the areas of support enforcement and/or parent locate matters as directed.
  • May perform data entry or retrieval duties as assigned.
  • Makes routine telephone calls as instructed.
  • Performs filing and file maintenance duties.
  • Scans all necessary paperwork in working and original files.
  • Organizes and processes incoming/outgoing office mail as instructed.
  • May assist a team or unit with routine clerical duties.
  • May check clients in for support hearings/conferences, Officer of the Day visits, paternity tests, and performs various other routine receptionist duties as assigned.
  • May docket support case information, conference, and hearing notices on the computer.
  • Types forms, letters and other key department documents and/or generate such forms/information as needed via office computers.
  • Will be assigned as a trainer as needed.
  • May be assigned to perform or assist with special projects.
  • Research case information and follow up within established office procedural time frame.
  • May be required to work at other county facilities.
  • May be required to process/receive cash support payments; provide receipts to customers; and operate office cash register accurately.
  • Follows State, County and Department security requirements, policies and procedures; understands and adheres to security plans, emergency procedures, and confidentiality policies; helps to provide a safe and secure environment for self, co-workers, and clients; takes measures to secure data and client information; keeps updated on all safeguards and security programs.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ability to work in a high volume often stressful office work environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer keyboarding skill of 35 wpm.
  • Must successfully qualify on a basic skills test administered by DRS Administration.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to organize and accurately file documents numerically and alphabetically.
  • Must be flexible as to work hours.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
