POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs general clerical duties that may include, but are not limited to: data entry/retrieval; typing; filing; scheduling; reception desk; mail processing; payment window; court check-in.  Duties include some contact with the public.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Distributes incoming office mail to proper areas as instructed.Organizes/processes outgoing office mail as instructed.
  • Enters/retrieves data on a computer terminal as required.
  • Performs routine filing and file maintenance duties as needed.
  • Processes/receives cash support payments; provides receipts to customers; and operates office cash register accurately if assigned.
  • Receives/processes requests for support arrearage lien information from title companies, attorneys, etc., within prescribed parameters.
  • Types forms, letters and other key department documents and/or generate such forms/information as needed via office computers.
  • May schedule support cases for conferences or court hearings; prepare conference/court lists; organize court files; perform post-hearing routine clerical duties as instructed or assigned.
  • May check clients in for support hearings/conferences, office of the day meetings, etc., and performs various other routine receptionist duties within prescribed parameters as assigned.
  • May docket basic support case information on the computer.
  • May be assigned to assist a team or unit with routine clerical duties, data/entry/retrieval, etc, as needed, but at a lower level of responsibility than the clerical casework performed routinely by the higher Support Caseworker/Specialist positions within said team or unit.
  • May take/answer incoming telephone calls as assigned.
  • Ability to work in a high volume often stressful office work environment.
  • Follows State, County and Department security requirements, policies and procedures; understands and adheres to security plans, emergency procedures, and confidentiality policies; helps to provide a safe and secure environment for self, co-workers, and clients; takes measures to secure data and client information; keeps updated on all safeguards and security programs.
  • Will be assigned as a trainer as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer keyboarding skill of 35 wpm.
  • Work experience in a business, legal or court environment preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
