POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides policy and direct line supervision of Deputy Superintendent.  Insures accountability and follow-up for all security, work release and treatment programs at the Men’s Community Correction Center, Women’s Correctional Facility and Bucks County Correctional Facility. Direct line responsibility for the overall operation of the Men’s Community Correctional Center, as well as the Women’s and Bucks County Correctional Facilities; reports to the Deputy Director of Corrections

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the operations and security functions of The Correctional Facilities as assigned.

  • Plans, directs, and controls all operations including supervision and coordination of such within Bucks County Correctional Facility.  

  • Ensures compliance with all standards including ACA and Title 37.

  • Corresponds with Courts, Probation/Parole agencies, local police departments and other outside agencies as appropriate.

  • As a senior staff member of the Department of Corrections, periodically functions as an on-call Department Duty Officer. 

  • Manages, initiates, plans, coordinates, and controls the operations and security including supervision of related staff.

  • Provides overall supervision to the Facility Security Management Team.

  • Overall management, planning, coordination, and control of operational functions for all department personnel. 

  • Direct supervision and development of management team that includes operations and security functions for all custodial levels.

  • Organizes, directs and coordinates activities of professional and technical personnel engaged in diverse security and program functions.

  •  Performs other special assignments, projects, investigations and other tasks as required by the Director.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Master’s Degree preferred or a Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, social services, public administration or closely related field, or its equivalent in experience and training.

  • Seven (7) years’ experience in institutional management, criminal justice work or public administration with three (3) years in the corrections field, including two (2) years in a supervisory position.

  • Thorough knowledge of corrections goals, objectives, methods, and techniques applicable to correctional facilities and programs.

  • Thorough knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a clear understanding of Corrections, and also with the Community Corrections environments and structures.

  • Ability to express ideas and communicate County policy on technical and/or administrative subjects, both orally and in writing.
