POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs routine work in assisting with the administration of department resident care and related work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides assistance in resident treatment programs by performing routine tasks that facilitate the work of professional therapist.

  • Assists with treatment program under the supervision of professional therapist to help residents become as independent as possible.

  • Reports to professional therapists any changes in a residents’ condition to insure the health and safety of each resident.

  • Assists professional therapists in activities for which he/she has been trained through instructional in-services and/or on-the-job training.

  • Transports residents to and from the department or other designated areas.

  • Aids in the scheduling of treatment for residents.

  • Prepares and cleans department equipment for resident treatment.

  • Maintains a neat, orderly and clean department.

  • Responsible for inventory, adjustment and light maintenance of wheelchairs including arranging for maintenance or vendor repairs.

  • Responsible for allocating wheelchairs to residents as specified by therapists.

  • Obeys safety rules and regulations as outline in Policy and Procedures.

  • Reports unusual conditions or questionable to Program Director.

  • Performs office duties including copying, faxing, filing and ordering supplies.

  • May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job.  More detailed instructions as to the nature of their duties will be given to employees at the beginning of work.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Willing to learn techniques and duties used in this work and to work with long-term geriatric patients.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions.

  • Previous experience in Rehabilitation Department and/or resident care desirable.
