PREA Compliance Manager



Department of Corrections





Full time position that guides, enforces, and documents facility’s efforts to comply with PREA standards.  Reports directly to the PREA Coordinator.  Responsible for the implementation and compliance with Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards. Interacts with facility staff, offenders, and outside contracting and regulatory agencies. Facilitates, coordinates, and provides administrative oversight to all areas of responsibility, to ensure compliance with PREA at all levels of the facility.  This is a grant based position with possibility of a permanent position.


Serves as the facility’s liaison on PREA and coordinates facility’s compliance efforts and reporting requirements to comply with the Act.

  • Develops and maintains PREA files, including documentation that meets each standard, and ensures each standard checklist is updated as needed.

  • Develops and implements plans for conducting internal reviews and mock PREA audits.

  • Assists facility management in interpreting, reviewing, and/or developing organizational and administrative policies, rules, and regulations of the facility as needed.

  • Attends PREA training workshops, responds to inquiries, and coordinates and conducts training for facility staff on PREA as needed.

  • Prepares reports, presentations, and facilitates meetings as needed.

  • Assists the PREA Coordinator as required in his/her absence. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Must be able to pass extensive background investigation.

  • Two years’ experience in corrections or a law enforcement related capacity.

  • General knowledge and understanding of PREA.  Certified PREA Auditor is preferred.

  • Specialized PREA Investigations Training and other related courses preferred. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to use tact and discretion for obtaining the cooperation and confidence of others.

  • Ability to work independently or in collaboration with others.

  • Well organized, multi-task oriented.

  • Must successfully complete the Department of Corrections’ security training classes.

  • Proof of professional liability insurance is required.
