POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the overall administration of the County Parks and Recreation System including County parkland and County sponsored programs within our parks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, trains and supervises administrative staff personnel.

  • Develops, Implements, and Administers the vision for a year-round program of recreational activities.

  • Supervises and is responsible for the operation of all County park facilities.

  • Coordinates with Bucks County Rangers to ensure the security and safety of all public users of parks.

  • Develops, maintains and is responsible for the administration of the annual departmental budget.

  • Makes recommendations for park acquisition programs and capital improvements for all facilities including long range planning.

  • Develops and administers public relations programs such as speeches, slide presentations, articles and brochures.

  • Keeps abreast of all existing federal and state funding programs for park capital improvements.

  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with other county departments and agencies.

  • Performs other similar or related duties as required from time to time to effectively maintain operating schedules and meet objectives.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Graduate Degree in related field or equivalent professional experience (minimum 5 years).

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and the general public.

  • Ability to work with consultants to successfully develop comprehensive plan documents and implement associated projects for realization of the comprehensive parks masterplan.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with personnel.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Etc.)
