POSITION SUMMARY
:

The Digital Media Specialist is a skilled writing and editing position focused primarily on generating original content for internal and external county government communications. The PI Specialist primarily will be responsible for generating news releases, social media content and internal messaging to the county workforce, and will assist as needed with all office functions, including special events, crisis communications, photography and video production, and website content updates and revisions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researches, writes and illustrates news releases on a broad range of topics related to county government operations

  • Assists with managing, populating, monitoring and redesigning official county government social media sites

  • Assists with monitoring the www.buckscounty.org website and providing content updates as needed

  • Assists as needed with writing and/or editing proclamations, commendations, speeches, letters and other communications for the County Commissioners

  • Assists with video production services for all county departments and row offices for use internally and in external communications

  • Assists with special event projects assigned to Public Information

  • Assists with crisis communications duties

  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned/required

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications-focused field of study preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent reporting, writing, editing and personal communications skills

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with functions of county government

  • Ability to impose high standards of accuracy, grammar and established elements of style to communications involving all county departments

  • Social media, photo and video experience preferred

  • Previous experience in government-related journalism preferred
