POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists the Director of Finance & Administration and the Deputy Finance Director on financial and budgetary matters and is responsible for carrying out a wide variety of assignments including the handling of confidential information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the preparation of the County budget and maintains various budget files.

  • Monitors departmental performance against budgets and advises of necessary changes to budgets.

  • Analyzes monthly revenues and expenditures and prepares report to the Deputy Finance Director.

  • Analyzes and forecasts revenues and expenditures.

  • Works closely with department fiscal personnel to properly account for accruals and deferrals.

  • Advises the Deputy Finance Director of problem areas.

  • Assists various County departments and agencies with individual problems.

  • Assists, advises and resolves accounting or functional problems.

  • Serves as liaison between Department Heads, Division Leaders and the Deputy Finance Director.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or four years of equivalent experience and training.

  • Budget experience necessary.

  • Ability to use spreadsheets, word processing and data base applications.

  • Ability to work effectively with County officials and departments.

  • Ability to handle complex budgetary situations without supervision.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Exercise a high level of confidentiality.
