The Prothonotary is now accepting ROUTINE Passport applications by APPOINTMENT ONLY at the Doylestown office.
At this time, all visitors to the Prothonotary are required to make an appointment. Please use our e-file system whenever possible or submit your filings by mail. For emergency Family Court filings and Civil matters that cannot be e-filed, PLEASE CALL TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.
The Prothonotary is now accepting ROUTINE Passport applications by APPOINTMENT ONLY at the Doylestown office.
Visitors to the Justice Center must 1) Wear a mask at all times in public locations; 2) Stay at least six (6) feet away from others; and 3) follow the procedures as outlined in Emergency Order #15.
The Upper and Lower Bucks Government Services Centers Prothonotary Counters remain closed.
Passports
Please Note:
- Proof of Identification: It is now required that all Applicants 16 years and older must present a clear photocopy ( front & back) of their valid government-issued identification (example: driver’s license/school ID card) along with that original photo identification.
- The U.S. Department of State requires the full names of the applicant’s parent(s) to be listed on all certified birth certificates to be considered as primary evidence of U.S. citizenship for all passport applicants, regardless of age. Certified birth certificates missing this information will not be acceptable as evidence of citizenship.

The Prothonotary serves as an agent for the Federal Government for the purpose of processing Passport applications. Passports take about 4 to 6 weeks for processing by mail. (Expedited service is available.)
