Older Adult Protective Services Program for people, over age 60, at risk of serious physical injury or death from neglect and abuse; a care manager is on call 24 hours a day on the HOTLINE listed above; all reports accepted and confidentiality maintained; services offered to individuals in private residences and any group setting; Spanish is spoken, and arrangements for other languages can be made; agency acts as ombudsman for complaints about long-term care of older persons both in nursing homes and community.

Telephone counseling through the CARIE LINE - 215-545-5728 - specializing in information and assistance to older people, including elder abuse and crime against the elderly. CARIE provides training and education through its "Competence with Compassion" training program for caregivers employed in long-term care settings regarding elder abuse awareness and prevention. 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Service for seniors and handicapped people who live alone; a trained volunteer calls daily at pre-arranged time; if no answer, emergency help is summoned; if person answers, but sounds confused or disoriented, someone is notified to give assistance.
