Commissioners Deliver State of the County Remarks to Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce

On the morning of Friday, October 6, 2017, Bucks County Commissioners Charles H. Martin, chairman, Robert G. Loughery and Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia joined members of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce for a breakfast update on County business.

The Commissioners stand with Central Bucks Chamber Members after the State of the County presentation. Chairman Martin spoke of the county’s strong but challenging financial position, the recent preservation of the 200th farm in the Agricultural Land Preservation Program, and of the many veterans’ services that are provided by the County Office of Veterans Affairs. He also reminded residents that Tuesday, Oct. 10 is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 7 Municipal Election.

Commissioner Marseglia touched on an array of topics, including the enormous increase in Children & Youth Social Services case load and the high employee turnover it has generated. She spoke of the County’s successful Question, Persuade & Refer (QPR) training to help identify mental health and potential suicide issues in the community. She also touted the upcoming Medication Take Back event at 51 county locations that will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Commissioner Loughery updated the CBCC members on the County’s Venture Capital 4 Bucks County (VC4BC) program that is a partnership of the County Retirement Board (pension fund) and Ben Franklin Technology Partners. The PowerPoint from the event is linked here.
