Bucks County Issues “Code Blue” Weather Declaration for Friday, March 10 until Monday, March 13

March 9, 2017

The National Weather Service is forecasting extreme late winter conditions for the upcoming weekend. Given that prediction, the Bucks County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) joins the County Health Department to issue a “Code Blue” declaration. The Code Blue declaration will cover the period of 9 p.m. on Friday, March 10 through 7 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017.

The EMA again has notified the March, 2017 on-call churches, Emilie United Methodist Church in Levittown, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Doylestown and Quakertown Masonic Lodge to plan to activate their emergency shelters. The on-call church volunteers will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities.

In addition, County Emergency Management Director Scott Forster and Health Director Dr. David Damsker have notified local public safety officials of the Code Blue declaration. They advise all residents to be aware of another period of severe weather conditions. County residents are urged to check on their elderly neighbors during this period of frigid weather. Caution also should be taken with pets during extremely cold temperatures.
