Effective today, Thursday, October 27, 2016, Bucks County Bridge No. 252 was re-opened to traffic following repairs coordinated by the County Department of General Services. Bridge No. 252 carries Milford Square Pike over Unami Creek in Milford Township. The bridge is a 55-foot long, two lane, two span concrete encased steel I-beam structure that was originally constructed in 1924. Recent traffic estimates indicate the bridge carries approximately 1,000 vehicles per day.
Due to deterioration of the structure’s concrete and foundation, the County opted to close the bridge in May, 2014. The repair contract, approved by the Board of Commissioners on June 15, 2016, involved a $480,541 agreement with Professional Construction Contractors, Inc. of Bethlehem. First responders have been advised of the re-opening. Bridge No. 252 is one of 115 owned and maintained by the County of Bucks and its General Services department.
