County Health Department to Spray Adult Mosquitoes August 20 in Warwick and Warminster Townships

August 18, 2015

The Bucks County Department of Health in association with the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) will conduct an adult mosquito spray on Thursday, August 20, weather permitting, in Warwick and Warminster townships.  The spray will commence at dusk, and will be limited to specific areas of the townships. The rain date for the event will be Friday, August 21.

The proposed roads technicians will treat in Warwick Township are Graeme Way, Hart Lane, and Eddowes Road.

In Warminster Township, Health Dept. technicians will spray the following lanes: Maguire, Spiess, Little, Lynda and Oak Leaf. The following drives will be treated: Log College, Marshall, Worthington, Cornell, Barness, Dayton, and Gorson. The following roads will undergo treatment: Glazer, Darrah, Nassau, Dager, Irma, Dixon, Slight, and Weber.

County technicians will be driving a dark green Ford Ranger spray truck with the county logo and BU number 0107 on the side.  There will also be a lead truck, a blue Ford Ranger pickup with similar identification.  The chemical to be used will be Duet applied at the rate of one (1) ounce per acre. According to the Pennsylvania DEP, the product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. The application material has a very low toxicity profile to mammals and will have negligible impact to non-target insects and the environment.
