County Health Department to Spray Adult Mosquitoes Friday, August 14 in Sellersville and Perkasie

August 12, 2015

The Bucks County Department of Health in association with the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) will conduct an adult mosquito spray on Friday, August 14, 2015, weather permitting. The spray will commence at dusk, and will be limited to specific areas of Sellersville and Perkasie.

The areas to be treated in Sellersville are the Sellersville Waste Water Plant, B. Earl Druckenmiller Park, and the pond and grove areas behind the Sellersville Fire Company. In Perkasie, only the Callowhill Rd. bike path fields will be sprayed.

County technicians will be driving a dark green Ford Ranger spray truck with the county logo and BU number 0107 on the side.  There will also be a lead truck, a blue Ford Ranger pickup with similar identification.  An ATV may be used in Perkasie Borough to disperse the ULV spray on the field area of the bike path. The chemical to be used will be DeltAGard applied at the rate of one ounce/acre. According to the Pennsylvania DEP, the product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. The application material has a very low toxicity profile to mammals and will have negligible impact to non-target insects and the environment.
