Bucks County Extends “Code Blue” Weather Alert from Monday, February 2 to Sunday, February 8

January 30, 2015

With the National Weather Service forecasting dangerously cold winter conditions over the next week, the Bucks County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) joins the county Health Department to extend the current “Code Blue” declaration. The extended declaration will cover the period of Monday, February 2 through 7 a.m. on Sunday, February 8.

The EMA has made arrangements with the on-call churches, Woodside Presbyterian Church in Yardley, Doylestown Presbyterian Church and Salem Mennonite Church in Quakertown to activate their emergency shelters. The on-call churches will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities.

County Emergency Management Director Scott Forster and Health Director Dr. David Damsker have notified local public safety officials of the Code Blue extension. They advise all residents to be aware of the severe anticipated weather conditions. County residents are urged to check on their elderly neighbors during this period of frigid weather. Caution also should be taken with pets during extremely cold temperatures.
