July 29, 2014

The Bucks County Health Department, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), will conduct a limited adult mosquito control spray in Bristol Township on Thursday, July 31, 2014, beginning at 8:15 p.m. - weather permitting.

The sections of Bristol Twp. that will be included are Red Cedar Hill, Holly Hill and Appletree. All lanes and drives in these three sections of Levittown comprise the target area. The spray will commence at dusk and conclude by 11 p.m.

The application chemical will be Masterline Kontrol 4-4. It will be released at a rate of 0.75 ounces per acre. The spray will be conducted using a lead vehicle: a Ford Ranger pickup; and a spray truck: a 1997 Chevrolet pickup.  Both vehicles bear County of Bucks identification on the vehicle side doors.  The county Pesticide Applicator Number BU0107 will also appear on both vehicles.

According to the Pennsylvania DEP, the product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. The application material has a very low toxicity profile to mammals and will have negligible impact to non-target insects and the environment.
