Farmers Market Nutrition Program for Seniors

A message from the Area Agency on Aging...

The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, is offering the Farmers Market Nutrition Program to older adults in Bucks County.  The program provides $20.00 in FREE vouchers to eligible individuals and $40.00 for eligible couples, for the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets.  The vouchers will ONLY be distributed at the designated senior centers listed below, from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Fridays while supplies last, starting June 6.  Note: At the  Eastern Upper Bucks Senior Center, the vouchers will be distributed from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Thursdays, starting June 5.

To be eligible, recipients must reside in Bucks County and be age 60 or older.  In addition, income guidelines are as follows:  1 person: $21,590 or less; 2 people in household:  $29,8101 or less; 3 people in household:  $36,612 or less; 4 people in household:  $44,123 or less; 5 people in household: $51, 634; and 6 people in household: $59,145. (Note:  Seniors who are living in nursing home facilities, convents and residential facilities where meals are provided are not eligible.)  You will be required to show proof of residence and age.  Please visit one of the senior centers listed below to register.  If you are unable to go to a senior center, a relative or friend may register for you by providing proper identification and a completed ProxyForm, signed by the recipient.  Proxy forms are available on the Area Agency on Aging web page (www.buckscounty.org), or may be picked up at the Area Agency on Aging office, 30 E. Oakland Ave., Doylestown; or at the Government Services Center, either at 7321 New Falls Road, Levittown, or 261 California Road, Quakertown.  Proxy forms, as well as a listing of participating farmers markets, are available at all senior centers.
