Effective tomorrow, Wednesday, May 28, Bucks County Bridge No. 252 will be closed to traffic in order to perform repairs necessitated by a recent inspection. Bridge No. 252 carries Milford Square Pike over Unami Creek in Milford Township. The bridge is a 55-foot long, two lane, two span concrete encased steel I-beam structure that was originally constructed in 1924. Traffic estimates indicate the bridge carries approximately 1,000 vehicles per day.
Due to deterioration of the structure’s concrete and foundation, the County opted to close the bridge. County General Services’ personnel are in the process of evaluating the structure to determine the necessary scope of repairs. The County’s Emergency Services department has notified first responders of the closure. A full detour route has been presented to PennDOT and will be implemented after approval by the state transportation agency. Temporary bridge closed signs will be installed until the full detour plan is approved and installed.
Bridge No. 252 is one of 115 owned and maintained by the County of Bucks and its General Services division.
