County LEPC to Participate in Chemical Drill

The Bucks County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security and Falls Township, are participating in a preparedness exercise designed to replicate a chemical/hazardous materials emergency. The drill will be conducted on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Air Liquide Chemical Company, located at 19 Steel Road, West Morrisville, near the USX facility.

Saturday's exercise will be the first of its kind, combining chemical hazards as well as terrorism and combat scenarios (guns and explosions), while being conducted jointly by federal, state and local officials.

"This is a very exciting opportunity that I am happy to be a part of," stated Commissioner Diane Marseglia. "Preparedness, whether it is for a weather emergency or terrorism, makes our county safer and stronger."

The drill is being conducted by an outside security vendor, making it more realistic to those involved, as the majority of the specifics won't be known until they occur.
