Commissioners Cut Ribbon on Bridge No. 239 in East Rockhill Twp.
Bucks County Commissioners Charley Martin and Rob Loughery cut the ribbon to officially open County Bridge No. 239 on a very spring-like, Friday, Feb. 18. They were joined by Rep. Paul Clymer and East Rockhill Twp. Supervisors Jim Nietupski and John Cressman.
The steel-truss bridge on Branch Road in East Rockhill was opened to traffic after being closed since August 2010. The bridge carries Branch Road over the Perkiomen Creek.
Bridge No. 239 is one of six bridges the county owns and maintains in East Rockhill Township; and one of 115 bridges Bucks County owns and maintains throughout the county. The scope of the work included removal and replacement of steel stringers; construction of new concrete deck; installation of new deck joints and deck protective coatings; and reconstruction of abutment backwalls. It also included a full-depth paving reconstruction. The total construction cost of the project was $508,000.
