Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Announces Public Caregiver Conference Calls for November 5th & 19th
November is “National Family Caregivers Month” throughout the United States. The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is preparing for this annual recognition by announcing a pair of upcoming telephone seminars devoted to senior caregiving efforts. These sessions, to be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5 and Thursday, Nov. 19, will offer practical information as well as an opportunity for individual questions to the expert speakers.
On Nov. 5, Certified Financial Planner Rick Colello (who offers securities through LPL Financial, Member FINRA/SIPC) will address the issue of Financial Survival Skills. On Nov. 19, Carol Levine, director of the Families and Health Care Project at the United Hospital Fund of New York, will focus on the topic Next Step in Care, which is aimed at planning smooth transitions from one care setting to another.
“The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging wanted to meet caregivers where they are and recognize that it may be difficult for them to leave the home to attend informational sessions,” stated Richelle Marek, the county AAA Care Management Supervisor. “We hope these calls will provide the opportunity to participate and feel part of a community.”
Caregivers of older adult family members are invited to join in either/or both telephone seminars. Interested parties may call in toll free to 1-866-423-8755, at which point they will be prompted to give the following participant passcode: 441122. They will then be placed on hold until the moderator begins the seminar.
National Family Caregivers Month seeks to draw attention to the many challenges facing family caregivers, advocate for strong public policy to address family care-giving issues, and raise awareness about community programs that support family caregivers.
