PennDot Orders Closure of County Bridge No. 234 in West Rockhill Township

Map of Bridge areaAs a public notice to motorists and first-responders, the Board of Bucks County Commissioners announces that County Bridge No. 234, a stone masonry arch bridge located at Clymer Ave. over Mill Creek in West Rockhill Township, has been closed to traffic, effective today. This closure was ordered by PennDOT, due to the recent discovery of a structural deficiency involving the bridge’s stone arch barrels.

The bridge has been closed and marked with signs that are illuminated, and a detour plan has been submitted to PennDOT for approval.  The closure will require detour routes using sections of Clymer Rd., Old State Rd., State Rd. (S.R. 0152) and Detwiler Rd. West Rockhill Township Manager Greg Lippincott and Pennridge Regional Police Department Chief Dave Mettin have been notified of the closure, which affects one of the 115 bridges that are owned and maintained by the County of Bucks General Services department. Bucks County Emergency Services Director John Dougherty has communicated the closure to 9-1-1 Communications, fire and EMS officials.
