Commissioners Appoint Human Resources Director
Today the Bucks County Commissioners appointed acting Human Resources (HR) Director Meredith Dolan to the director post. Dolan assumes her new duties effective today.
The Warrington resident has served in the county’s HR department since 1994, first as coordinator of staff training where she was responsible for conducting the county’s new hire program and in-service training, and then in 2000 as assistant HR director.
“Ms. Dolan has many years of experience that will serve her well in her new role, particularly the last eight months when she stepped up to the plate as acting director,” noted Commissioner Chairman Charles H. Martin. “I am pleased to offer her my congratulations.”
Dolan is now charged with directing a staff of 11. Their shared mission is to acquire, develop, and allocate personnel resources in a way that enables the County of Bucks to meet its goals. The team accomplishes this in several ways, including:
- Creating a positive work environment by ensuring sound management techniques are consistently practiced
- Providing support and technical advice to line management and also serving as internal consultant to senior management
- Assessing and impacting performance through coaching, training, counseling, and feedback
- Establishing standards of performance and professional behavior which facilitate a cohesive work force and support a positive work environment
The Human Resources department is part of the county’s Finance and Administration Division, headed by Brian Hessenthaler. In addition to Finance and HR, the division includes Purchasing, Tax Claim, Tax Assessment and Information Technology. Bucks County’s new HR director will earn an annual salary of $82,000.
Dolan is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and International Personnel Management Association. She and her husband Stephen have a college-aged daughter, Chelsea. The couple enjoys a weekend ride on their motorcycles in the New Jersey Pine Barrens.
