Commissioners Join Corrections Department to Honor 2009 Corrections “Officers of the Year”
The Board of Bucks County Commissioners, Chairman Charles H. Martin, James F. Cawley, Esq. and Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia, LCSW, joined administration and staff of the county Department of Corrections on May 7 to congratulate the recipients of the department’s 2009 “Officer of the Year” award, Lawrence DeFelice and Alex Perez.
“We thank you for all that you do every day through your distinguished commitment to the public safety of Bucks County Corrections and Bucks County as a whole,” Chairman Martin noted.
Corrections Officer DeFelice joined the Bucks County Department of Corrections in 1986, following seven years of service in the United States Air Force as a weather observer. In 1992, he moved from the Bucks County Correctional Facility to Community Corrections. He currently works at the Men’s Community Corrections Center (MCCC), where he has served the department and its staff in multiple capacities.
Corrections Officer Perez joined the department in March, 2004, since which time he has earned acclaim as someone who consistently goes “above and beyond” the call of duty. He is a member of the Corrections Honor guard and, during 2008, he was awarded a special award for excellence by his peers.
