Commissioners Unveil Justice Center Construction-Cam

Bucks Countians wishing to follow the progress of phase one of the Justice Center project – the parking garage – can now view a live web cam of the site by visiting www.BucksCounty.org and clicking on Capital Projects from the home page.

Since the December 2008 groundbreaking, much work has already been done.  Visitors to the site will notice that a large portion of the 30-foot excavation is complete. According to Jerry Anderson, director of operations, shoring of the levels along Union Street will be completed shortly. He says the next step is the installation of a retaining wall.

Phase one is expected to take a total of 18 months from the December 2008 groundbreaking.  Once the new parking garage is in place, the county will begin work on the courthouse, which is currently in the preliminary stages of design.   The current parking garage will be demolished to make way for the new building.  To allow work to begin, the county has paid the $205,000 building permit fee on February 27, 2009 and requested a monthly summary of expenses incurred to ensure that there would be zero cost to Borough residents.

“We’re doing everything we can to keep county residents and visitors informed about this significant capital project,” Commissioner Chairman Charles H. Martin points out. “I encourage those interested in the Justice Center project to register for electronic alerts as updates are made to our web site.”  Commissioner Martin also issued a reminder that a special number has been set up by Anderson, aimed at those with specific questions or concerns.  That number is 215-345-3949.
