Generations Come Together For Valentine’s Day
Youth Center Donates Presents to Neshaminy Manor Residents
Neshaminy Manor residents enjoyed some surprise visits and comforting presents for an early Valentine’s Day on Feb. 13. Young men from the Bucks County Youth Center distributed hand-made lap quilts, walker carry-all bags and lace tissue covers.
“It was nice to see them smile, and to see that they really liked what we made. It made me feel good,” said one of the Youth Center quilters.
The hand-work was made during the weekly quilting and sewing class, taught by volunteers Penny and Bob Larrisey, to both boys and girls in county custody at the Youth Center. The successful quilting project was also recently awarded “Program of the Year” at the 2008 JDCAP, Juvenile Detention Centers Association of Pennsylvania, conference.
The boys donated 260 walker carry-all bags valued at $2.50 each. The girls donated 30 lap quilts valued at $11.00 each and 280 lace tissue covers at $2.00 each. The total value of the donated items was $1540.00. All materials used by the youth are donated.
