Bucks County Donates Surplus Items to Morrisville Senior Center

In a gesture intended to help maximize office-working efficiency at the Morrisville Senior Center, Bucks County donated 13 items to the facility this morning. Accepting the items, which included two small brown desks, three large file cabinets and a metal coat rack, was Morrisville Senior Center Manager Patricia Schell.

Picking up surplus itemsCounty Asset Manager Pete McElroy was on hand to oversee the transfer of the furniture, which was loaded onto a Morrisville Borough truck for transport. According to McElroy, the county is proud to assist non-profit agencies through the donation of available surplus, or “as is,” items. These items are donated for the explicit use of the non-profit operations.

“Our goal is to donate these items to a worthy cause, one which will allow them to continue to be put to good use,” McElroy explained.

During the Bucks County Commissioners’ meeting of Dec. 3, 2008, Chief Operating Officer David Sanko announced this program, which “marries” the many demands for equipment on the county’s non-profit agencies with items the county and other businesses can provide, such as surplus furniture and office equipment.

“In tight economic times, non-profits have a lot of demands,” Sanko elaborated. “We continue to poll our non-profits to determine their need for charitable giving, outside the realm of money.”

The Human Services non-profit wish list is located on the Human Services division page. Non-profit agencies are encouraged to contact Human Services with requests. The telephone number for information regarding the program is 215-348-6201.
