Area Agency on Aging to Conduct Health Fair at Bensalem Senior Citizens Center on Dec. 5
The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) will host a community health fair at the Bensalem Senior Citizens Center on Friday, December 5, 2008 from 1-4 p.m. More than 12 organizations will be participating to provide various health screenings, as well as information on maintaining healthy lifestyles for older adults. The AAA also will partner with APPRISE health insurance counseling staff to help individuals compare Medicare plans for 2009. Translators from the AAA, Language Line and Independence Blue Cross will be available throughout the day to assist Russian-speaking individuals.
“We are proud to partner with our Area Agency on Aging and diverse community partners to offer this event,” noted Commissioner Chairman James F. Cawley, Esq. “It will provide our senior community a unique opportunity to learn about the many services that are available to them.”
Brian Duke, Executive Director of the AAA, amplified on the timing of the event by noting: “Each year people enrolled with Medicare can review their current coverage for Medicare Part D and make any changes which would be beneficial. This year’s open enrollment period ends on December 31, and enrollees are encouraged to make any changes no later than December 10. The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging, through the APPRISE insurance counseling program, offers advice and information year round.”
There is no cost to attend the event, which will also feature free massages, food and door prizes. The Bensalem Senior Center is located at 1850 Byberry Rd., Bensalem, 19020. For more information, please call the center at 215-638-7720.
