Bucks County Health Dept., Pennsylvania DEP to Conduct Mosquito Spray August 13 in Bristol Twp.
Four-hour event to Begin at 8 p.m., Weather Permitting
At 8 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 13, the Bucks County Health Department and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will be conducting an ultra-low volume mosquito adulticide spray in portions of Bristol Twp. between Interstate 95 to the north and Bristol Pike to the south. During this operation, both residential and recreational areas will be treated to provide quick knockdown and effective control of adult mosquitoes.
The four-hour treatment, which will take place weather permitting, is a public-safety measure resulting from high populations of adult mosquitoes capable of transmitting West Nile Virus.
The area to be sprayed is bordered by Interstate 95 to the north, Neshaminy Creek to the west, New Rodgers Rd. (Route 413) to the east, and Bristol Pike to the south. It includes the Croydon Acres and West Bristol neighborhoods, Broadway Ave., Newport Rd., Prospect Ave., Maple Ave, Dixon Ave., and Delores Ln., among others. The Health Dept. recommends that residents use insect repellent if they go outdoors in this area.
Both DEP and Bucks County Health Dept. officials will be conducting the spray using ATV and truck-mounted spraying equipment with the business license 2626 for the DEP, and BU 0107 for the Health Dept. The product to be used will be Biomist 3+15 applied at a rate of 0.75 ounces per acre.
