Bucks County Military Affairs Office Celebrates Relocation to Almshouse Building Location: Larger Site to Offer Greater Handicapped Access, Interactive Privacy
On Monday, June 2, the Bucks County Office of Military Affairs will open for business in a new location, on the fourth floor of the Almshouse Building, Neshaminy Manor Center, 1260 Almshouse Rd., in Doylestown Twp. This location, which is part of the Planning Commission complex, will replace the Military Affairs former home, in the adjacent Building K (Health Dept.), 1282 Almshouse Rd.
“We are pleased to announce this change, which stands to benefit all of our treasured veterans as they seek to capitalize on the many services our Military Affairs department offers,” Bucks County Commissioner Chairman Jim Cawley said of the move. “We are committed to issues of access and privacy, and we conducted a wide range of research before selecting this site, which will offer more space for visitors.”
According to Bucks County Military Affairs Director Dan Fraley, the Doylestown office hosts more than 1,000 visits each year. Many of these visits, which involve both veterans and their dependents, are of a confidential nature. The new office location will allow ease of handicapped parking and elevator access with clearly marked directional instructions.
In addition to the new Doylestown office, Military Affairs also conducts appointments in the Lower Bucks Government Services Center, 7321 New Falls Rd., Levittown (215-949-5800) and the Upper Bucks Government Services Center, 515 S. West End Blvd., Quakertown (Wednesday only, 9 a.m.-noon, 215-536-6844). The Lower Bucks GSC hosts approximately 1,500 annual visits, while the Upper Bucks GSC hosts 500.
