Moldmakers Assistant 2009
The internship,offered biennially, is geared towards undergraduate ceramic majors and is
designed to provide a solid introduction to plaster mold making.
The intern will assist in the mixing and pouring of plaster production
molds. The intern will learn about proper plaster mixing and pouring,
appropriate release agents, and estimation of amounts needed. They
will be taught how to produce plaster molds. Problems and solutions
will also be discussed.
As their final project, the student will be required to produce
on their own time, a design, prototype, plaster block mold, plaster
master mold, rubber mold, production mold and finished ceramic product
made from production mold.
The internship runs from Jan 6- 29, 2009. The intern and moldmaker
will meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1 - 5 p.m.
Students may be able to arrange credit at their college or university
