Commissioner's Office of Public Information

Mission:
The mission of the Commissioners' Office of Public Information is to improve and maintain effective lines of communication and understanding between Bucks County government, employees and the public.

Press Conference in progressDepartment Overview:
Based in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, the Public Information Office strives to maintain a comprehensive awareness and understanding of the County of Bucks by providing timely, credible, relevant, proactive information and activities to the residents, employees and visitors of the county. Our main functions include:

  • Employee communications
  • Community relations
  • Special projects & events
  • Media relations
  • Crisis communications
  • Public information

Public Information interacts with members of the media, generates press releases, arranges commissioners' public meetings, press conferences, ceremonies and special events, responds to questions from the citizenry, publishes internal and external newsletters, and maintains the county's official website, www.buckscounty.org. Proclamations, letters of commendation and Eagle Scout citations awarded by the Bucks County Commissioners are prepared in this office, as well.

Another area of responsibility is office management at the county's two government service centers (GSCs) – one located in Upper Bucks (Quakertown) and the other in Lower Bucks (Levittown). These offices provide services such as passports, job applications, dog, hunting and fishing licenses, voter registration and others.

Anyone interested in a tour of the Bucks County Courthouse can make arrangements by following this link. Points of interest include the Register of Wills, courtrooms, Sheriff’s office and others. Tours can be tailored to various age groups and interests. A minimum of one month notice is suggested.

Beginning in 2009, Right to Know requests should be directed to the county’s Open Records Officer.  Click here for more information.
