David M. Sanko

David M. Sanko assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer for the County of Bucks in January of 2005. Previously, he served Governors Ridge, Schweiker and Rendell in Cabinet level appointments in Harrisburg for 10 years.

David M. SankoAppointed by the commissioners, Mr. Sanko serves as county administrator. Much of the official business of the county is routed through his office for assignment to the proper entities and performance tracking.

Mr. Sanko serves as the facilitator between the commissioners and the division leaders and row officers, as well as various Boards and Commissions. As a member of the Government Finance Officers of America (GFOA), he also interfaces with counterparts in the Greater Philadelphia region. He is responsible for the day to day operations of government, over which the commissioners exercise final responsibility. His directed and stated goals are to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of county government functions while containing the cost to the taxpayers.

His duties also incorporate the duties of the Chief Clerk, such as handling the record keeping responsibilities for the administrative offices, attesting the commissioners’ signatures and affixing the county seal to official documents.

As Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Sanko offers bi-monthly progress reports on highlights of county government cost savings and service delivery that are scheduled concurrent with the County Commissioners meetings.

Mr. Sanko is a native of southeastern Pennsylvania and graduated summa cum laude from East Stroudsburg University.
