POSITION SUMMARY
:

After proper instruction, performs routine clerical tasks operating a computer.  Typing usage may vary; however, both typing and computer usage require previous training.  Work may include the receiving and handling of money and the operation of standard office equipment for which no previous training is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process filing of all original civil cases
  • Process submissions of electronic filings
  • Possess prior knowledge of civil documents and civil laws as well as local rules
  • Assists attorneys and general public at the counter with questions regarding office procedures
  • Process mail received daily in office, answers telephone and other related miscellaneous office duties
  • Process Passport applications
  • Process normal, routine technical requirements of the office
  • Reconcile cash drawers
  • Operates office equipment as required
  • Coordinates work in the office through legal interpretation of documents
  • Inputs into preparation of new forms as new legislation is introduced and passed
  • Performs related duties as directed
  • May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time with on-the-job training. More detailed instructions will be given to employees at the beginning of work.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • College High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Secretarial skills with minimum typing of 40 wpm.
  • Possess good computer skills.
  • Previous knowledge of legal documents and procedures for them

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand approximately 90% of the time, getting up and down as needed: use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
