SUMMARY: After proper instructions, performs routine clerical tasks operating a computer. Typing usage may vary; however, both typing and computer usage require previous training.  Work may include the receiving and handling of money and the operation of standard office equipment for which no previous training is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Inputs civil case filings in computer.
  • Assists attorneys and general public with questions regarding office.
  • Process mail received daily in office, answers telephone and other related miscellaneous office duties.
  • Process passport applications.
  • Process normal routine technical requirements of the office.
  • Operates office equipment as required.
  • Possess ability to follow directions and work with others.
  • Receives specialized instruction in designated legal areas.

May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time with on-the-job training.More detailed instructions will be given to employees at the beginning of work.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Secretarial skills with keyboard skills of 40 wpm.
  • Must possess good computer skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively with the public.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
