POSITION SUMMARY: The Specialist is responsible for analyzing, documenting, designing, configuring, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the County’s converged network infrastructure.  The specialist also manages multiple projects and technical initiatives with our internal customers and partners.  Additionally, government business research supported by technical studies, writing, and training tasks are a must to ensure the networks health and performance service levels are reached by the Enterprise Team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete performance and fault management activities to ensure the operational status of the network meets defined SLAs.
  • Identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, resolve and document network problems.
  • Create & maintain comprehensive documentation for the enterprise wide network.
  • Manage and monitor the various partner relationships that assist in providing adjunct network support functions.
  • Research and implement security mitigation measures to ensure the continued safety and health of the network.
  • Utilize a case management tool for support delivery, change control, and knowledge transfer.
  • Complete extensive analysis and business documentation to justify existing and future communications systems.
  • Provide professional verbal and written reports or recommendations to management and or customer.
  • Collaborate with partners / vendors on project installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Create, review, and recommend responses to bids and RFPs for various business and technology requirements.
  • Independently prioritize work and triage operational support issues around project related tasks.
  • Manage Avaya Site Administrator, Aura Communications & Session - System Manager, & Messaging systems.
  • Skillful with network based voice architectures comprised of carrier services similar to SIP, voice gateways, messaging, VeraSMART eCAS reporting, voice mail, auto attendants, vector dial plan functions, & call management tools.
  • Process MAC (Move, Add, and Change) requests for project and day to day operational activity.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology w/ seven or more years of proven data / voice network experience.
  • Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) School Certified Associate (SSCA) SIP Certification or equivalent.
  • Avaya Communications Manager 6.2 and Avaya Aura Session and System Manager R6.3 Certifications.
  • Commit to a 40 hour work week, as assigned, with occasional availability to work off-hours.On-call 7X24.
  • Experience with collaboration systems including video conferencing and audio visual solutions is desired.
  • Skillful in implementing & supporting network communications structured cabling standards and solutions.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities within a high pressure environment that includes local law enforcement, first responders, and life safety personnel.
  • Proficient with office automation software with a focus on the Microsoft suite of products.
