Bucks County Department of Behavioral Health

The Bucks County Department of Behavioral Health is responsible for the Medicaid Behavioral Health agreement between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the County of Bucks.  The Pennsylvania Behavioral Health Medicaid program, referred to HealthChoices, provides mental health and drug and alcohol services to Bucks County residents, who are eligible for Medicaid. The County of Bucks contracts with Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania to contract with providers and ensure access to these Medicaid behavioral health services. 

The Bucks County Department of Behavioral Health oversees this contract and works in collaboration with the Bucks County Mental Health/Developmental Programs Department and the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission, Inc., to assist those in need, with assessment and treatment. The Bucks County Mental Health/Developmental Programs Department and Drug and Alcohol Commission, Inc. provide mental health and drug and alcohol services to Bucks County residents, who are uninsured. with Magellan Behavioral Health Peer Specialists

Magellan employs Certified Peer Specialists who are people with lived mental health experience.  They can help you and your family by:

  • Listening to your concerns related to behavioral health and substance use.
  • Providing educational support regarding the complaint and grievance process.
  • Helping you connect to community supports, available services, support groups, peer and family networks and other available county and public resources.
