Bucks County General Services
Home Elevation Program
This program was completed in the Fall of 2014. The county is no longer accepting applications.
As part of ongoing efforts to minimize the damaging effects of flooding in our area, the Bucks County Commissioners sponsored a buyout and elevation program along the lower Neshaminy Creek watershed. The program was funded by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and focused mitigation efforts between Dark Hollow Road and the Delaware river along the Neshaminy Creek. Over the years of the program, hundreds of homes were razed and converted to open space, elevated, or had utility room additions constructed above the 100 year flood elevation. The Bucks County program was a means by which to permanently eliminate flood damage to homes and minimize potential loss of life situations through an advanced flood warning system. The overall purpose of the flood mitigation program was to reduce costs to homeowners, insurance companies, local, state, and federal governments, and reduce the need for emergency personnel response.
The program was administered by Kevin S. Spencer, RLA - Project Manager of the General Services Division (Kevin Spencer is currently the Director of Operations). All flood mitigation projects have been completed. At this point no new homes are being considered for engineering design and construction. If you have questions regarding the program, please contact General Services at 215-345-3950.
